Community Enhancement Update

Recently, someone drove through the lower garden at the intersection of Okla and Prince William Drive.
Clearly, this was not intentional, however it did damage some plants, thus requiring some changes to that
garden. Additionally, the gardens at the entrance on Prince William Drive and Rt. 236 are being changed to
lower the height of those plants to improve visibility, as requested by neighbors in the area.
In keeping with our goals of being pollinator and environmentally friendly, the new landscaping will continue
to have sustainable, draught resistant plants that attract butterflies, bees, and birds. Most of these plants are
considered deer resistant as well, although that isn’t as much of a problem for the entrances as it is in many of
our personal gardens in Mantua.
At the Barkley entrance, new landscape lighting was installed earlier this year, replacing the broken remnants
of the old lighting, which had not been working for many years. Also at that entrance, the area behind the west
brick wall is being cleared of weeds/debris and will be seeded with grass to prevent further growth of vines
and tall weeds that creep up and over the Mantua entrance wall.
