President’s Message, November 2025

November 1, 2025

Leaves fall, seasons change, but Mantua is still a great place to be. This month’s newsletter highlights volunteers, news you can use on school start times, as well as an amazing piece of Mantua history. Read on to hear what Mantuans are doing to prepare for the holiday season.
For the sixth year in a row, neighbor Aaron Ansell is leading a holiday charity drive in the pool parking lot. He will be collecting donations on December 6, between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Donations can include new or gently used toys, games, sporting/gym equipment, clothes, jackets, and anything you believe needy families may appreciate for the holidays. He will also collect monetary donations, which will be used to buy gifts to add to the collections. Those giving donations can request a 501(c3) taxable-donation form, as this effort is through God Send Ministry International, a non-profit organization.
The Mantua Turkey Trot returns on Thursday, November 27, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the pool parking lot. Last year over 2,000 racers participated, so get ready to cheer on your friends and neighbors. For the second year in a row, the MCA will have a table at the start to hand out race-day necessities.
To round out a full holiday season, the annual MCA Holiday Party will return on Sunday, December 14, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Mantua Swim & Tennis clubhouse. This year will be even bigger and more festive than ever. All ages are welcome, and babysitters will be on hand to watch young ones.
Finally, the MCA Board is growing once again! We are pleased to welcome Kathy Timberlake as our Community Engagement chair. This is Kathy’s second time on the MCA Board, and she has held volunteer positions with the Mantua PTA and Moms of Mantua. Kathy takes over the seat held by Maryanne Culpepper, who was elected as Vice President in July. Welcome Kathy!
