President’s Message September 2026

Fall is always the busiest time in the MCA calendar, with board meetings, membership meetings, and fun events for all ages.

Families have a lot to look forward to this fall. The Moms of Mantua Halloween Party returns on Saturday, October 25, from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the MSTC parking lot. Mantua Made Market and the Mantua Mini Made Market for kid crafters happens on Saturday, November 14, also at the MSTC parking lot and clubhouse.

For the civic minded, our next membership meeting will be on Thursday, October 22, at 7:00 p.m. at Mantua Elementary. The focus will be on environmental issues in the county. We’ll have representatives from the Department of Urban Forestry to talk about invasive species, an arborist from Bartlett Tree Experts to talk about managing fall risks from large trees, and more. We hope to see you there.

On a sadder note, last week I spoke at the Board of Supervisors meeting about road safety for our children. In the past several weeks there have been two accidents involving children, one fatal, in and around Mantua. We are greatly appreciative of the efforts by the School Board and Board of Supervisors to restore crossing guards to many local high schools. But the ultimate goal for our community remains safer streets for everyone, even outside of school hours, and that starts with engineering. I asked the county to prioritize safe streets funding as part of its package of legislative requests for the 2027 General Assembly, and I am confident that the Board will support that request, as they have in previous years.

If you have a concern about safety, an idea for an event, or just feedback on how we can improve, you’re always welcome to email me at president@mantua.org. Thanks for being our neighbor!
