Vacuum Leaf Update, December 2025

Thanksgiving gave Mantua a gift we can all be grateful for this year: an extra round of leaf pickup.
The Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES), responding to requests from the
MCA, did a special round of leaf pickup this year for houses along the Turkey Trot route to keep participants
and spectators safe. The MCA thanked the leadership of Fairfax County and DPWES for their efforts this year.
The Fairfax Turkey Trot, which began as a neighborhood event in Mantua, has grown to over 2,000 participants,
and features Mantuans handing out water as well as winter warmers along the route. The MCA is a
proud sponsor of the Trot, where we hand out breakfast bars ahead of the race.
The next round of Vacuum Leaf Service has begun! Neighbors should do their best to keep leaves out of culverts
and roadways as much as possible.
